Other Issues

Homeland Security

Obama, Homework 1
Obama believes, despite the increase of homeland security, the government still has not done enough. Obama is part of the Senate homeland security and the government affairs committee. “Barack Obama and Joe Biden will improve the American intelligence apparatus by investing in its capacity to collect and analyze information, share information with other agencies and carry out operations to disrupt terrorist operations and networks.” Obama is prepared for future 21st centuries war and is unhesitant to use to take out terrorist organizations. Obama will put more homeland security at nuclear power plants, chemical plants, ports, and water systems. He will do what it takes to prevent terrorist to obtain nuclear technology.

McCain, Homework 2
McCain is very similar, yet different in the views of homeland security compared to Obama. “Senator John McCain believes that the highest priority for any President is protecting the lives of American citizens, defending their personal freedom, and securing our land and resources.” Since John McCain was part of the military, he understands how those protecting their country feel. John McCain helped create the National Counterterrorism Center and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, both to counter terrorist activities. McCain supports the PATRIOT ACT and all of the revisions made to it. Obama did not support the original but he supported the revisions to it.

Immigration

Obama, Homework 1
Senator Barack Obama believes we should secure our borders with technology and personnel. He also believes that we must "increase the number of legal immigrants to keep families together and meet the demand for jobs that employers cannot fill." He would set forth a process where illegal immigrants in the nation would pay a fine and get on line to become citizens. He would also prosecute employers who hire illegal immigrants which would lower the encouragement of illegal immigration. I believe Senator Obama has a good point in prosecuting employers who hire illegal immigrants. If there are no jobs for illegal immigrants, they would not even attempt to cross the border.

McCain, Homework 2
Senator John McCain has a process for the reform and improvement of our immigration system. First, he believes that we must secure our borders from people who attempt to cross the border illegally. After that, he would implement temporary programs for non-citizens based on their skills and would give out visas accordingly. He would set up a program for undocumented individuals to adjust their status to a legal one. The program would include, most importantly, the repayment of taxes. I believe that Senator McCain has a well designed plan to address the issues of immigration. His programs would help the nation adjust to a legal form of immigration being that his plan would limit the number of illegal immigrants in the nation and help change the status of those who are already illegally in the country.

Veterans

HW 1, Barack Obama –

Barack Obama believes that we should take good care of the people that are helping are country stay free. If elected, he will do his best to re-implement the VA (Veteran’s Application) which was banned in 2003. He will also put a lot of effort towards improving the benefits granted by the VA. This act would help veterans get the medical care they need for both physical and mental issues. He also plans on introducing many services that would help prevent homelessness for veterans and that would protect them from being rejected from jobs based on there military service.

HW 2, John Mccain –

Like Barack Obama, John Mccain also believes that we need to improve the living conditions of are veterans. He says that America owes are veterans everything it can give because without them we wouldn’t be able to prosper. America’s future is in the hands of all the volunteer men and woman who do everything they can to keep this country safe. He plans on improving the funding for veteran health care for both current and retired veterans. John Mccain also plans on introducing a lot of new ways to honor are living and fallen veterans. All in all, both candidates believe that America should do all it can to ease the pains suffered by veterans and their families.
